Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, Hyde Park The famous masked Ridotto al Fresco masked balls of the 18th century were held at London’s popular Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Patrons arriving at the gardens by boat would be met by a grand orchestra boasting fifty musicians, and “the sound of the music ravishing the ear” according to one Irish visitor in 1752.
