We are looking for a Public Critic! Do you have what it takes?

Have you always had a secret desire to be a music critic? Want to publish that opinion of yours? How about free tickets to some of Chicago’s best concerts?

 

If you said, “yes!” we want to hear from you! ChicagoClassicalMusic.org is looking for new voices to review some of this season’s most exciting classical music concerts!

 

Here’s how it will work: Submit a brief review (200 words) of a recent concert you have attended and a letter explaining why you should be the Public’s Critic.

 

Deadline is October 25, 2009. Submissions to be mailed to critic@chicagoclassicalmusic.org.

The Downers Grove Choral Society will perform Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle on Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 pm as a part of the Fine Arts Series at Saint Cletus Church in LaGrange, Illinois, and again on Sunday, February 26 at 3:00 pm at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, Illinois.

One of Rossini’s last works, he referred to this setting of the Mass as “the last of my sins of old age.” The work reveals Rossini’s signature playfulness and wit tempered by glimpses of sincerity and grace.

The award-winning Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players will present a concert titled Trio Mania featuring Impressionist works written in the early 20th century by the American Charles Martin Loeffler and the French Claude Debussy. Guests will enjoy an exceptional performance in the inspiring sanctuary of Union Church of Hinsdale.

The Chicago Philharmonic is made up primarily of Lyric Opera Orchestra members and other top-tier professional musicians from the Chicago area. The group will perform Charles Martin Loeffler’s Two Rhapsodies for Oboe, Viola and Piano; Claude Debussy’s Sonate en Trio for Flute, Viola and Harp and Carlos Salzedo’s Song in the Night.
