Beethoven: Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16
Beethoven: String Quartet in F Major, Op. 135
Beethoven: Septet, Op. 20

Two centuries have passed, yet the work of Beethoven remains a cornerstone of the chamber music canon. CCM honors this great composer with a concert dedicated to three of his most charming works. The Quintet for Piano and Winds is an early work bursting with playful humor as inspired by Mozart. In contrast the Septet, Op. 20 — described by Beethoven as “my Creation!” — was composed during the time of his hearing loss and resonates with a poignant optimism. The last String Quintet, Op. 135, finds Beethoven returning to the simplicity of earlier times in an engaging, yet reflective work.

Featuring CCM artists Michael Henoch, oboe; Larry Combs, clarinet; Dennis Michel, bassoon; Gail Williams, horn; Joseph Genualdi, violin; Jasmine Lin, violin; Rami Solomonow, viola; Meng-Chieh Liu, piano
