CCM's Sounds and Spaces concerts take beautiful music to architecturally significant spaces.

At the March 27, 2011 concert, French chateau design sensibilities unite with wind trios in the home of the 30th Vice President of the United States and amateur musician and composer, Charles G. Dawes.

Sounds
French Wind Trios
French wind trios meld beautifully into the chateau style of Dawes house: Milhaud’s neo-Baroque Suite d’après Corrette, Op. 161b; Canteloube’s rich and eloquent folk-inspired Rustiques; Beethoven’s variations on Mozart’s Don Giovanni, WoO. 28; and Ibert’s sparkling work of miniatures, Cinq pièces en trio.

Spaces
Home to the 30th Vice President of the United States and Nobel Peace Prize winner Charles G. Dawes, this house is a fine example of English Renaissance Revival design. Dawes, an amateur musician and composer, was deeply rooted in music and this connection can be felt throughout the home’s meticulously maintained interior.
