The Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for the 2010-11 season. The SVSO is a 65+ piece community orchestra of talented non-professionals with selected professional support. The orchestra presents four or five concerts a year of demanding standard orchestral repertoire at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. Rehearsals are held at the Center from 7:00pm – 9:30pm several Thursdays from September through May, with additional Monday rehearsals the week of a concert.
The orchestra has a paid opening for Principal Bass. The orchestra also has unpaid openings for flute/piccolo, oboe/English horn, French horn, contrabassoon (must have own instrument), and all string sections. Previous orchestral experience is preferred. All interested players must audition. Auditions will be held the week of September 13.
