PianoForte Foundation

PianoForte Foundation was founded in 2004 by Thomas Zoells and quickly grew to become Chicago’s premier presenter of piano-focused concerts. We strive to preserve and promote the art of the piano by producing a variety of intimate concerts in downtown Chicago and the western suburbs, regular radio broadcasts on WFMT and WDCB, the annual Schubertiade Chicago festival, and other educational workshops and events. We also place several donated pianos per year in schools and community institutions through the Gift of Pianos donation program. In June 2010, PianoForte Foundation launched the international Chicago Amateur Piano Competition, the midwest’s first ever event of its kind. PianoForte Foundation was awarded the 2009 William Hall Sherwood Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts, for its role in bringing heightened awareness and appreciation of piano repertoire and performance in Chicago.
