The Chicago Composers Orchestra (CCO) kicks off its third season with "Popular Influence," a fall concert featuring Stacy Garrop's awe-inspiring Thunderwalker, plus exciting works by emerging composers Steven Snowden, Alex Temple (featuring vocalist Jenna Lyle), Liza White and William C. White.

Thunderwalker received rave reviews after its premiere at Symphony Center in a performance by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Dr. Garrop is Head of Composition at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts. Austin-based Steven Snowden's For So Long It's Not True derives from Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused, and Alex Temple's Liebeslied, commissioned by the American Composers Orchestra for the opening of the 2011 SONiC Festival, deforms the consummate mid-twentieth century love song almost (but not quite) beyond recognition.

Conductor Matthew Kasper returns to the podium to lead 40 of the most talented young professional musicians in the area.
